Shani Rhys James

Shani Rhys James (シャニ・リス・ジェイムス、シャニ・リース・ジェイムス、シャニ・リス・ジェイムズ、シャニ・リース・ジェイムズ)
1953年にウェールズ人である父とオーストラリア人である母のもとオーストラリア (Australia) のメルボルン (Melbourne) で生まれの画家。
1972年から1973年にかけて留学したラフバラー芸術大学 (Loughborough College of Art) のファンデーションコースで学び、その後、1973年から1976年には、ロンドンのセント・マーティン芸術大学でファインアートの勉強をしている。
そして現在は、イギリスのウェールズ (Wales、Cymru、カムリ) のポウイス (Powys、ポーイス) 地方の村 Llangadfan を生活の拠点にして創作活動している。

ポストしたのは、"Lemur"、"Scissors"、"The Inner Room"、"High Heels" の4点。

最後に Artist's Statement を原文のまま引用しておこう。

My desire to produce powerful, emotional paintings which are read for their content, their colour and their abstract elements. I have to be emotionally and mentally taken over by my paintings. They are seemingly direct ; I paint about the studio, the kitchen, the artist, my children, childhood memories. So imaginative and observational elements co-exist in each work
